MH370 – One of the Great Mysteries of Modern Time
The plot of what happened to Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing sounds more like the plot to a Die Hard movie rather than a real life event.
This part of the world is mostly well populated and with many people and ships in the area that must have seen or heard something if the aircraft did explode or crash somewhere. The last official location should have led the rescue effort to a fairly precise location and with wreckage that would have been spread far and wide something would have surely been found by now with such a large rescue effort?
As time goes by with no evidence being found of any catastrophic scenario other possibilities need to be explored. The transponder being turned off in my mind suggests a deliberate act. Who did that and why makes the story intriguing. I sincerely hope all the passengers and crew and found alive and well, but normally as time passes without finding survivors one would normally have to expect a worst case scenario. Though in this case with nothing being found and some very strange happenings, transponder, aircraft turning, searching the Andaman Sea etc all create a possibility of a hijacking or mass kidnapping scenario. Though no ransom or claiming of responsibility have been made (that we know of at least) also puts this is doubt.
For the hijacking/kidnapping scenario someone or something on that plane was of significant value or interest to someone somewhere. Who could that be and where is the aircraft now? Such a big plane can’t remain hidden forever and the black-market for a 777-200 would be very limited.
There are many theories circulating, but for me I think these are the most likely reasons:
- Passenger of Interest
- Freight of Interest
Both of these suggest the plane has been taken somewhere and not destroyed as many fear – I hope I’m right on this one. The passengers could be found walking somewhere is some remote location.
Be interesting to know more about the individual passengers, who they were and their connections and/or ransom value.
The freight on-board the aircraft. Was this a great plane robbery?
With no wreckage found I can only assume the aircraft is parked at an airport somewhere in some rouge country, but where could the aircraft get to with the available fuel?
This map shows the possible locations the aircraft could have been taken. But how it managed to escape being tracked only time will tell us the truth. Malaysia Airlines are doing their best in very trying circumstances. I believe them when they say they have no idea and think what has happened was beyond their control.
